As for cooking FRYBREAD; I always try and use my old black cooking skillet, it keeps the temperature of the oil or shortening more consistent. The secret to good fry bread is in the mixing. This classic Native American fry bread is deep-fried to puffed-up perfection. Serve this delicious bread with a meal or make fry bread tacos.

Frybread is one of the most popular of recent trending meals in the world. It is simple, it is fast, it tastes delicious. It’s appreciated by millions every day. Frybread is something that I have loved my entire life. They are fine and they look fantastic.

The ingredients needed to make Frybread:
  1. Make ready 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  2. Make ready 1/2 cup self-rising cornbread mix

We serve frybread in place of dinner rolls at Thanksgiving Dinner. We also enjoy it as a dessert, topped with powdered sugar. Instructions to make Frybread:
  1. Heat a cast iron skillet or cast iron flat iron
  2. Mix the ingredients except the butter.
  3. Put into the skillet or flat iron
  4. Let it cook till little bubbles make craters.
  5. Flip it
  6. Let it cook till firm in the middle it should be done. Serve I hope you enjoy!

We also enjoy it as a dessert, topped with powdered sugar. It's not pre-contact food, but it's delicious at powwows as an NDN Taco, topped. Finish all the breads up and when they're done cooking put em' in a towel or something to keep them warm, and drain excess oil. Fry in deep fat until golden brown. Fry bread wasn't part of the Native American diet until we were forced into prison camps.
