Raw Mango Sambar is a traditional South Indian dish, especially in Tamilnadu. This sambar is made using Raw Mango and Tur Dal pulp added with home made. Raw Mango Sambar / Maanga Sambar is one of the most flavourful sambar recipes…Whenever I get raw mango either I use it for mango pachadi or make this sambar or very rarely use it for fish. Mango sambar is one of the flavorful sambar just like drumstick sambar.

To begin with this particular recipe, we have to prepare a few components. You can cook mango sambar using 17 ingredients and 9 steps. Here is how you can achieve it.

The ingredients needed to make Mango sambar:
  1. Make ready 2 tbsp Oil
  2. Get 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  3. Prepare 1 tsp Fenugreek seeds
  4. Get 1 tsp Urad dal
  5. Prepare Curry leaves 1 sprig
  6. Get garlic cloves 5 nos
  7. Make ready 1 tsp Hing powder
  8. Prepare Red chilli 2 nos
  9. Get Green chilli 2 nos
  10. Prepare Onion 1 nos
  11. Take Tomato 1 nos
  12. Get Mango 1 nos
  13. Take 1 cups Toor dal
  14. Get Tamarind juice- small lemon size 1 nos
  15. Make ready 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  16. Take 1 tsp Chilli powder
  17. Get 1 tbsp Sambar powder

The first one that came to my mind is this raw mango sambar recipe. Do try this simple and mango flavored sambar at home and bring a smile on the face of your family members. There are numerous versions of sambar but this one is note worthy due to the magical sambar powder. Raw Mango sambar i have tasted in my friend's house few years back, but somehow i didn't liked it.

Steps to make Mango sambar:
  1. Wash toor dal and cook well in a pressure cooker along with 2 garlic, turmeric powder, green chilli, Hing powder and salt for 2 whistles.
  2. Soak a lemon sized tamarind in a water for 15 mins and take the juice.
  3. In a pan add oil, when it is hot add red chilli, mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, urad dal,remaining garlic,Hing powder and Curry leaves. When spluttering add onions and tomato, mix it well and cook till it becomes mushy.
  4. Now add turmeric powder, chilli powder and sambar powder. Mix well till the raw smell goes.
  5. Add the cubed mango pieces and mix well to the masala.
  6. Now mash the cooked dal and add to the onion tomato masala.
  7. Keep the flame in medium low and cover it for 5 mins, mix it in between to avoid burning.
  8. Now extract the juice from the tamarind that is soaked in water and add to the dal. Add more water to this if you according to your consistency and let it boil for 15 mins in medium low.
  9. Now switch off and have the tasty mango sambar with hot steamed rice.

There are numerous versions of sambar but this one is note worthy due to the magical sambar powder. Raw Mango sambar i have tasted in my friend's house few years back, but somehow i didn't liked it. But i don't say she didn't make it nice, because mango sambar one of her signature.
