Prepare 2 cups chana dal (split bengal gram)
Take 2 cups sugar
Prepare 6 cups water
Take 1/4 tsp nutmeg/cardammom powder

Take 1 1/4 cups whole wheat flour

Combine the flour with enough water and knead into a semi-stiff dough. Cover and keep aside for 15 to 20 minutes. Divide into 6 equal portions.
Filling - 1. Pressure cook the chana dal on low heat till 5 to 6 whistles. - 2. When the pressure settles down open the cooker and drain off the water completely. - 3. Then mash the dal properly. Add sugar and cook stirring continuously till the mixture thickens and starts to separate the pan. - 4. Remove from heat and add nutmeg powder or cardamom powder. - 5. Mix well. The Puran (stuffing) is ready to make paratha.
Roll 1 portion of the dough in to a small circle. Put a portion of the above stuffing in the middle, and close it by bringing all the edges in the middle and roll it again to make it a paratha (poli)
Heat a griddle and cook the paratha on both the sides till light brown in colour using a little ghee.
Repeat with the remaining dough and stuffing to make 5 more parathas.
